Rachael & Ryan | Chicago Skyline Engagement

Recently we had an opportunity to photograph such an enjoyable couple – Rachel & Ryan. We had so much fun conquering the wind and photographing their romantic moments during our Chicago skyline engagement session. Cannot wait to photograph their wedding!  One could argue that the Holidays contain some of our most cherished memories, and in Ryan’s mind, the perfect time to ask the girl that has meant everything to him for her hand in marriage. Ryan spent months trying figure out the perfect way to ask the perfect girl to marry him. The problem with that mindset is that perfection in not reasonable. He realized that all you need is your heart on your sleeve, and the girl in front of you. After spending a wonderful Christmas with Rachael’s family, Ryan was presented an unimaginable opportunity to celebrate New Year’s on a boat with friends, overlooking the lights of Chicago and fireworks going off in the background. Okay, the setting was perfect. The night came, and it was New Year’s Eve. Rachael and Ryan were enjoying socializing with friends while the boat hovered just off of Navy Pier. As the year counted down to 2017, Rachael and Ryan sat on the top of the boat, champagne in hand, ready. Ryan had planned to say a heartfelt speech, but in his completely nervous state the only question he could muster for Rachael was, “Are you excited for 2017?” Rachael replied enthusiastically, “Yes, are you?” As the clock officially hit 12:00:01am, with fireworks exploding in the sky, Ryan got down on one knee, and replied, “I certainly am now. Will you marry me?” Rachael, smile-crying shouted, “Yes, of course!” She was so excited she couldn’t even wait for Ryan to put the ring on her finger. Some would say she stole it, like she stole Ryan’s heart, and quickly put it on her finger. So smooth it was like she had practiced it. It was the perfect start to what’s sure to be an amazing lifetime together.
