Chicago Skyline Proposal at Milton Lee Olive Park | Mariana & Alonso

Some proposals feel emotional and romantic. Some feel fun and effortless. Mariana and Alonso somehow gave us both. They came all the way from Mexico for their Chicago skyline proposal at Milton Lee Olive Park, and honestly, it could not have been a more perfect day. The lake, the skyline, the sunshine, the surprise – and two people who were completely relaxed, happy, and ready to laugh their way through their flirty session.

From the very beginning, these two were just so easy to photograph. No stress. No awkwardness. No overthinking. Just love, laughter, and that “we are really here, this is really happening” kind of joy.

A Chicago Proposal with Skyline Views

Milton Lee Olive Park is one of my favorite Chicago proposal locations because it has that iconic skyline view without feeling too busy or overly formal. You get Lake Michigan, the city behind you, open space, and a beautiful walking path that makes the proposal feel natural.

For Mariana and Alonso, it was especially perfect. They traveled to Chicago from Mexico, so having the skyline in the background made the moment feel so connected to the city. It was not just a proposal – it was part of their whole Chicago experience.

Alonso got down on one knee with the skyline behind them, and Mariana’s reaction was so sweet. You could tell she was surprised, happy, emotional, and completely in the moment.

And then, of course – she said yes.

The Most Relaxed Newly Engaged Energy

After the proposal, we walked around Milton Lee Olive Park for portraits, and honestly, they made my job way too easy.

Some couples need a little warming up, which is totally normal. But Mariana and Alonso? They were instantly themselves. Laughing, flirting, holding hands, dancing around a little, hugging, teasing each other – just fully enjoying the moment.

This is exactly why I always love doing portraits right after the proposal. There is this fresh, excited energy that you cannot really recreate later. The nerves are gone, the secret is out, and suddenly the whole session becomes a celebration.

Their photos have a fun, relaxed feeling because they weren’t trying too hard. They were just happy.

Portraits Around Milton Lee Olive Park

After the big yes, we used different parts of the park for variety. We photographed them against the skyline, along the lakefront, on the walking paths, and with the Chicago skyline in the background.

Milton Lee Olive Park is great because you do not need to move far to get a full gallery. The skyline view is the obvious star, but the lake, the soft greenery, the open paths, and the nearby city views all add depth to the session.

For Mariana and Alonso, the whole gallery feels sunny, playful, and full of movement. It was not stiff or overly posed – more like a little walk around Chicago while celebrating their engagement.

Which, honestly, is the best kind of session.
