What are the best engagement session locations in Chicago?
When you’re looking for an iconic location to take your engagement photographs it is a city full of inspiring sights! Your future significant other is someone you’re ecstatic to be marrying, and you want to take engagement photographs that reflect how deeply in love you two are. With so many amazing locations in the city of Chicago, the question isn’t if you can find the perfect engagement photo spot, it is how you will pick your favorite out of all the amazing options the city provides! I have some of the best engagement session locations in Chicago that I believe help with taking some awesome photos! Chicago is a magical city and by having your engagement photos taken at one of the places I’d recommend you are sure to be delighted with the final result. It’s your special day and I aim to make the announcement about it reflect that!
Lincoln Park Nature Boardwalk at South Pond.
This is by far the most popular location among my couples. No matter the season, this location is always a winner. Located just north of downtown by Lincoln Park Zoo it features some iconic Chicago views and architecture. Absolutely breathtaking in summer and spectacular in fall features lot of nature to include in your engagement photos. One of the most popular and sought after structure – ‘The Honeycomb’ is also located here. This location is super popular among families and tourists too, so expect a crowd around you when you choose this spot for your engagement session or wedding day portraits.
North Avenue Beach.
This popular beach is located within walking distance from Lincoln Park Boardwalk. It features one of the best views of the northern Chicago skyline. The combination of sand, beach vegetation, and skyscrapers create a unique backdrop for your photos you will not get anywhere else. Because it is so close to Lincoln Park, my couples and I often choose to shoot their engagement photos in Chicago at both locations and use one to dress up and the other for a more casual vibe.
Milton Olive Park at Navy Pier.
This secluded location brings you close to the North part of downtown, so close you feel like you can touch the city across the water! The park is popular among locals (and photographers) but not overcrowded at all! The view of the skyline at sunset and boats parked on the water rocking with waves… There is also a small beach where you can touch the lake and relax. It is also a great photo location for walking along the lake with your shoes in hand.
Adler Planetarium and Field Museum.
Adler Planetarium offers by far the most iconic view of the city skyline period. That’s why there is always a lot of people taking advantage of this opportunity. Don’t worry. You will get your piece of the view if you choose to have your session there 🙂 The area features a breathtaking backdrop day and night, so there is always a good time to visit. The North side of the Field Museum offers elegant locations with some iconic Chicago architecture, greenery, and city view comes as a bonus! That part of the city is not as crowded as the planetarium and just perfect for dressing up and enjoying a glass of champagne.
Chicago Riverwalk & Wrigley Building.
We all love to admire the city skyline’s view, but Chicago is so much more than just that. The newly remodeled Riverwalk is one of the most popular locations for an engagement session in Chicago. Pretty during the day, it really comes to life at sunset and after dark. With city lights all over, you will love how intimate and spectacular this part of the city can be. River, iconic Chicago bridges, boats, and skyscrapers… Can you imagine a better night-time backdrop? The iconic Wrigley Building is also one of the top spots to admire the city’s architecture. Combine the two and you have the perfect city engagement session.
Cantigny Park in Wheaton, IL.
I saved this location for last as this is a true gem among the best engagement session locations in Chicago burbs. Located about 45 minutes from the city in the western suburbs of Wheaton, IL is Cantigny Park. Cantigny Park is the 500-acre former estate of Colonel Robert R. McCormick, the longtime editor, and publisher of the Chicago Tribune. It features beautiful flower arrangements, gardens, immaculate grounds, plenty of greenery, a historic mansion, and much more. It is a wonderful place to spend the day away from the city noise and do your romantic shoot! Chic, elegant and romantic, it doesn’t get any better than this when you plan your Chicago engagement session. Simply my favorite spot in the burbs, as it offers the sheer variety of backdrops and locations within walking distance.
I truly hope this guide will help you choose your spot among the best engagement session locations in Chicago.
I always want your session to be a time for you to just be yourselves and enjoy it! Have fun together! Be YOU and let me do the rest. Do you love each other? Good.
